Figure 8 shows the loss of houses from bushfires in Australia by state and territory from 1939 to 2006. This figure shows us that bushfires in the south-eastern regions of Australia have a greater impact on communities than those of the Northern and Western Regions. Victoria fires are shown to affect many homes which means that the fire occurs in more suburban areas, similar to NSW, Tasmania and the ACT. In the NT, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia the fires seem to be in the more rural areas of the region as not many homes are impacted by them or these regions could be less affected by severe fires.
