Criteria:
The State Government of Victoria can do a few things to prevent/reduce the effects of bushfires. These include:
The State Government should also reduce the amount of buildings built near/next to high risk areas as this will reduce the amount of infrastructure damage as well as reduce fatalities because of less people living/working near high bushfire risk areas.
All of these solutions satisfy the second criterion because they both can reduce the severity of a bushfire. The last solution also satisfies the last criterion.
- Reduce/eliminate the number of deliberately/accidentally caused bushfires
- If reducing/eliminating bushfires is not feasible, then reduce the damage caused by bushfires
- Reduce the amount of fatalities as a result of bushfire
The State Government of Victoria can do a few things to prevent/reduce the effects of bushfires. These include:
- Controlled Burns. These are effective as they reduce the amount of fuel if a bushfire occurs. This is because bushfires need fuel to survive, if the bushfire arrives at an area that has already been burnt, there will be no fuel, so the bushfire would stop at that area.
- Fire Trails. Fire trails are roads built specifically as a way of access for fire management purposes, and could act as a fire break in a bushfire.
